How many hours are considered a “day”?

We consider 10 hours a full day of recording. If you go over 10 hours, additional charges may apply.

We’re really on a tight budget. Do you offer any discounts?

If you want to work with Scott, he charges book rate. We do, however, have several engineers at the studio who work at cheaper rates, offer specials, etc. We also have a studio B rig that is considerably cheaper. Call for (806) 787-2636 for more details.

Do you offer day rates for outside engineers?

Yes! Qualified engineers are welcome to rent the Amusement Park Studio at our special engineer's rate. Call us at (806) 787-2636 and we’ll give you a tour and a quick training session on how everything’s wired, etc. It’s pretty logical and a good engineer should be up and running in no time. All engineers must be pre-approved by our owner.

How do I know if my engineer is qualified to work at the Amusement Park?

Basically, Scott or one of the other staff engineers has to know them and approve them. We want to meet any engineer who works here. We'll help them get the layout and wiring of the studio down.

Are there any hidden costs?

The only additional charges that you might incur are:

  • 1. If you want us to purchase a hard drive for you to back up your session on. We charge $125 (not including sales tax) for this. Just bring your own firewire drive and we’ll back it up for you.
  • 2. Drum head fee. If you're planning on using our drum kit for your project, we do charge a $50 drum head fee for whole albums. It's $25 for an EP and $10 for an individual song.

You’ve got some pretty nice guitars and amps on the list. Can we use them?

Of course! We’ve got more toys than you can imagine, and you’re welcome to use everything we’ve got!

Can we get a tour of the studio?

Sure! Email our studio manager D’Etta Brown or call her at (806) 787-2636, and she’ll schedule a time where Scott or one of the other engineers can give you a full tour. Please don’t just “drop by”. The Amusement Park is not a walk-in business.

Do you have a demo CD of tracks you’ve recorded?

Yes. We’d be happy to send you a demo disc. But before you request one, check out our record player! There are tons of tracks there for you to check out. And you can let it play in the background while you check out the rest of our site! If you’d still like a demo disc, call (806) 787-2636 and request one. We’ll be happy to send one out.

I don’t hear the style of music I’m interested in. Got more I can listen to?

We record every style imaginable. From rap to rock, Texas country to jazz, blues to death metal, hip-hop to classical, you name it, we love to record it. Give us a ring and we’ll set up a listening session so you can hear our work first-hand and get a tour while you’re at it!

Can we come in the night before our session to set up?

Depending on the schedule, sometimes we can arrange for you to come in and set up/mic the drums the night before. We do consider this as billable time, as we have to be there working.

Do you do voiceovers or music for TV, film or radio?

Absolutely! We’ve composed and recorded tons of jingles and corporate music spots. Check out the “Jingles” album in the record player to hear some of our work.

Do you need any interns?

We have an agreement with South Plains College for all of our internship positions. If you're an upper level SPC Sound Tech student, contact your advisor for more information.

Are you hiring engineers or assistants?

Once in a while we do hire a new engineer. However, we are always looking for freelance engineers who want a studio to work out of! Found a band you love and you need a place to record them? Call us. We’ll work out a deal where you can use the studio and make money yourself.

Does Scott ever produce records outside of Lubbock?

Absolutely. Scott doesn’t mind traveling anywhere to make a good record. And if you happen to live in or near Austin, Scott has a great relationship with Studio 1916 in Kyle (15 mi. south of Austin) and highly recommends them. Lots of times a band will work with Scott in Austin or another city, and then he'll bring the tracks back to the Amusement Park for mixing. Call (806) 787-2636 for more info.
